Changing Liberal Party Governance - Will it make a difference?
We asked Canadians about the importance or unimportance of the Liberals changing the way they govern themselves and 77% said it was important/somewhat important. Among committed Liberal voters this increases to 86%.
We know from our other surveys that the Liberal brand still has some major baggage from the sponsorship scandal (see our survey on what Canadians like and dislike about the Liberal Party of Canada on the right).
So…how important are these Liberal Party governance changes? Will it make a difference to your view of the Liberal Party?

I don't think that the Liberal party's governance structure will have much of an influence on Canadians - I doubt few, if any would know, about the current structure and the proposed changes. The new leader and his/her approach and team will make the biggest difference to the party's fortunes.
I get the sense that the Liberal party is fighting a losing battle against the decentralizing forces at play in Canada and the world. Brokerage type parties don't seem to fit into the changing fabric of Canada.

Being a Federal Liberal, it makes it rather difficult to answer your
questions on your site if one does not have the needed reference materials
to base a judgement on.
The Liberal Party in the provinces and regions need to make sure they
have legitimate peoples who one can contact when they need info on the
what is happening with our party. As a Life Long Liberal I became close
to wanting to vote for another party if there had been another party out
there that I could satisfy myself would be the party to vote for...
Prince George has Liberals here as well and needs to have a proper
regional board to make sure they are kept in the loop as well as look as
Woman and Aboriginal issues!
Well enough for now. Using my son's computer so this is not my proper
email address; should be c_gareau@telus.net Liberals check back you
will see our family was on the Xmas card list for decades...
Thank you, Merci, Chiimegwiitch Christine Aldridge in Prince George, BC...
ps. The only email contact I have had is from Hank Rowlinson, the regional rep for Chetwyn(who isn't my regional rep), Steven MacKinnon, and Maharaj as well as a couple of other campaign persons....

I think the Liberal party must do a major overhaul. Some of its policies were based on fallacious points right from the very start, and they continue to this day.
One that comes to mind is:" If you own a firearm, you are a bad person", no ifs and or buts. As well, every firearms owner is just a trigger pull away from being a criminal.
The shooting sports, and hunting, have been a part of Canada for as long as it has existed, yet the Liberal attitude towards firearm ownership is one of derision and suspicion. Their gun control legislation and the highly flawed long gun registry are testament to this attitude.
Liberals have to stop being "Holier than thou". They must start listening to the people because blind adherence to out of touch dogma will continue to relegate them to the back benches.

The Liberal Party and Liberal governance embraces a long standing, ingrained culture of marginal ethical behaviour. It will be very difficult to reinvent themselves without a major shakeup at the national and constituency levels. The needed changes will be extremely difficult to achieve.

What is changing of Governance going to do if those in power are exempt from Accountability, To me Accountability means being fired, Anne McLelland says ditterent in from of a Parliamentary Committee, was it Anne McCelland because your the guilty one. Im going to drum on this until the cows come home and want a direct answer from the Liberals in this Conventions. Why was Jean Chretien, Warren Kinsella, Denis Coderre not invested by this Commissioner of the RCMP, for not investingating the Commissioner should resign and Chretien and others should be in a Federal prison. Liberals have to face the facts of the past and address them which they are not doing. Why does Chretien not want to talk about the past. Because Him and his Caucas are Guilty of hiding money in programs from Canadians for the sole purpose of appeasing Quebec, and filling the pockets of friends in Quebec period. Quebec continually holds the rest of Canada hostage that in itself is Criminal. LIBERALS ADDRESS YOUR PROBLEMS.
